The Christmas Party on Friday 26 December was a huge hit. Lasting for about two and a half hours it entertained, amused and impressed us all. The talent was the highest you could imagine - all put together by the students themselves. How much practice and rehearsal they had I don't know but it must have been a lot.
Beginning with a musical recital on the piano, and returning to this instrument many times, the performers displayed their innate talent. Of special note was an imprompt performance by Professor Fu. Many of us had heard he had a love of the piano and we knew of his practice but none could have known his achievement until we heard him play that day. Bravo! Encore!
We heard the erhu, a saxophone, singing, rapping, rock and classical. We saw couples dancing, an impressive fan dance, jazz dancing and watched dramatic performances.
All compered and introduced by talented speakers.
Of mention, but not of note, was a rendition of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Jingle Bells" by the English teachers. Perhaps by next year they will have improved. But thanks anyway - it gave the real performers a chance to rest.
We were sorry when it was over - it could have gone on to give the audience a excess of pleasure, but we were full as at every Christmas and it was time to take a bow.
A pleasure indeed and a tribute to the skills and talent of the Zhong Ao Class.
